AVANI WINES - Amrit Pinot Noir 2017

Characteristic
Red berries on nose, an elegant wine with ripe tannins, sweet fruit, balanced natural acidity and a long savoury finish. 

It's an absolute cracker from AVANI SYRAH. 
With a great body, a little bit of whole bunch and aged in french oak barrels for 12 months.

AVANI is an ancient Sanskrit word that means ‘the earth’. We spent a superb four hours with Shashi and Devendra, tasting magnificent wines and learning about their production.

AVANI SYRAH wines produced are organic, with no chemicals, pesticides or sulphur used. The grapes are grown without the use of irrigation and rely solely on rainfall. 

They carefully craft Pinot Noir, Syrah (Shiraz), Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Gris with skin contact and Sauvignon Blanc. Shashi believes in nurturing the vineyard and this is evident in her wines.

Planted in 1987 on gentle north facing slopes in Red Hill South on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, our 4 hectare non-irrigated and low cropped vineyard is focussed on producing only cool-climate Syrah (Shiraz).
